WellFed™

An Eating For Health™ Program for Community Wellness Partners

Program Description

Bauman College, a 501(c)3 non-profit educational institution has been training Nutrition Consultants and Natural Chefs since 1989. Our mission is to improve personal and community well being by teaching people to eat well to sustain health and support recovery from illness and injury. A significant part of our work is to support students and graduates in offering programs and services to teach whole food nutrition, what we call Eating For Health™, to groups and organizations interested in creating a culture of improved health and sustainable living.

We are proud to offer our free WellFed™ program to your organization to provide a supervised Internship for our third term students. Here’s how it works: Bauman College will send a team of nutrition counselors to your organization to provide nutrition and lifestyle education through a series of classes and individual counseling sessions.

In order to become a Community Wellness Partner and receive the WellFed™ program, your organization agrees to:

  • Host a six week nutrition and wellness program
  • Allow the people in your organization to receive a series of six weekly one-hour nutrition classes
  • Allow the people in your organization to receive six weekly counseling sessions
  • Provide a room for the nutrition classes and one or more rooms for nutrition counseling
  • Assign an individual to work with Bauman College personnel as the On-site Program Coordinator

Your organization can determine the day and times for the nutrition classes (generally outside your organization’s operating hours). The initial one-hour counseling sessions will be held on-site. Follow up sessions will be conducted by telephone, e-mail, or in person.

In the following four weeks participants will receive weekly 15-30 minute support sessions.

Your designated On-site Program Coordinator will work with the Bauman WellFed™ administrator to schedule the one-hour initial counseling sessions. Community Wellness Partner Enrollment Process

Step One: Review the Program Details
Review the WellFed™ program details. If you are interested in participating, identify an On-site Program Coordinator who will be the contact person in your organization that will work with Bauman personnel during the course of the program.

Step Two: Complete Participant Interest Survey
To determine if the people in your group are interested in the WellFed™ program, provide them with the Participant Interest Survey. The results of this survey will be available to your On-site Program Coordinator. If eight or more people are interested, then continue on to step three.

Step Three: Schedule a Management Orientation Meeting
Schedule a 30-minute orientation meeting with your management representatives and Bauman College to discuss and review the WellFed™ Program details. Using the Participant Interest Survey, results we will identify the individuals who want to participate in classes and nutrition counseling sessions. At this meeting, we can set the dates, times, and location for the six nutrition classes and for the 30 minute Participant Orientation meeting. Both parties will sign the Community Wellness Partner Agreement.

Step Four: Participant Orientation Meeting
During this meeting we will introduce the WellFed™ Program. We will review the class structure and describe the counseling process. We will discuss the dates and times for the classroom series and share sample materials for the program. Participants will review and sign the Participant Agreement Form.

Step Five: Schedule Nutrition Counseling Sessions
Participants receiving nutrition counseling will work with the On-site Program Coordinator to determine whether the sessions will be before, after, or during your normal operating hours.
