WellFed™ An Eating For Health™ Program for Community Wellness Partners Program DescriptionBauman College, a 501(c)3 non-profit educational institution has been training Nutrition Consultants and Natural Chefs since 1989. Our mission is to improve personal and community well being by teaching people to eat well to sustain health and support recovery from illness and injury. A significant part of our work is to support students and graduates in offering programs and services to teach whole food nutrition, what we call Eating For Health™, to groups and organizations interested in creating a culture of improved health and sustainable living. We are proud to offer our free WellFed™ program to your organization to provide a supervised Internship for our third term students. Here’s how it works: Bauman College will send a team of nutrition counselors to your organization to provide nutrition and lifestyle education through a series of classes and individual counseling sessions. In order to become a Community Wellness Partner and receive the WellFed™ program, your organization agrees to:
Your organization can determine the day and times for the nutrition classes (generally outside your organization’s operating hours). The initial one-hour counseling sessions will be held on-site. Follow up sessions will be conducted by telephone, e-mail, or in person. Participant Benefits are: Improved...
Nutrition & Wellness SeriesFor six consecutive weeks, participants will receive one-hour health and wellness classes. Participants will receive an illustrated workbook containing valuable information that reinforces the nutrition and lifestyle recommendations presented in each class. The following topics are typical WellFed™ class topics. Some customization may be available.Class Topics:
Nutrition Counseling SessionsParticipants will receive an initial one-hour nutrition and health evaluation meeting. In the second session, the participants will receive a Health Plan that includes diet and lifestyle recommendations based on each participant’s health and wellness goals. In the following four weeks participants will receive weekly 15-30 minute support sessions.Your designated On-site Program Coordinator will work with the Bauman WellFed™ administrator to schedule the one-hour initial counseling sessions. Subsequent weekly support sessions will be scheduled and managed by the participants and Bauman nutrition counselors. NOTE: It is important that participants have Internet access and make a commitment to attend the classes and counseling sessions. Community Wellness Partner Enrollment ProcessStep One: Review the Program Details Review the WellFed™ program details. If you are interested in participating, identify an On-site Program Coordinator who will be the contact person in your organization that will work with Bauman personnel during the course of the program. Step Two: Complete Participant Interest Survey To determine if the people in your group are interested in the WellFed™ program, provide them with the Participant Interest Survey. The results of this survey will be available to your On-site Program Coordinator. If eight or more people are interested, then continue on to step three. Step Three: Schedule a Management Orientation Meeting Schedule a 30-minute orientation meeting with your management representatives and Bauman College to discuss and review the WellFed™ Program details. Using the Participant Interest Survey, results we will identify the individuals who want to participate in classes and nutrition counseling sessions. At this meeting, we can set the dates, times, and location for the six nutrition classes and for the 30 minute Participant Orientation meeting. Both parties will sign the Community Wellness Partner Agreement. Step Four: Participant Orientation Meeting During this meeting we will introduce the WellFed™ Program. We will review the class structure and describe the counseling process. We will discuss the dates and times for the classroom series and share sample materials for the program. Participants will review and sign the Participant Agreement Form. Step Five: Schedule Nutrition Counseling Sessions Participants receiving nutrition counseling will work with the On-site Program Coordinator to determine whether the sessions will be before, after, or during your normal operating hours. Cost: There is no charge to the Community Wellness Partner or its participants for these services. Confidentiality & DisclosureThe information gathered during the nutrition counseling process is confidential. Bauman College will use this information, without real names, to report outcomes and to measure the effectiveness of the program. Bauman College nutrition counselors provide only nutrition education and lifestyle support. They are not doctors and do not diagnose or treat illness.
