Hormones "SO low"

I am an DLNE student. I have a friend/client whose naturopath recently sent her the results of a saliva hormone test with the quote that "her levels are SO low". The test seemed to analyze levels of DHEA and testosterone, estrogen and progesterone. She has an appt with the ND in 4 weeks, but she asked me what I knew which is very little. I'd love to advise her so.....
What do I read on this subject of hormones to better understand it? What books, sources, articles etc are well respected by Bauman and its affiliates.
Thanks

I'm sorry it's taken so long for you to receive a response. I think it may be because so much information is lacking that it's virtually impossible to say anything about this. We don't know her age, which analytes were for certain "so low", or what her symptoms are. If she's young, I'd venture a guess that she's suffering from the hormone depletion that can result from adrenal fatigue.
The books I like to refer to for various hormone-related issues are James L. Wilson's
Adrenal Fatigue
, Jacob Teitelbaum, M.D.'s
From Fatigued to Fantastic
, Uzzi Reiss, M.D.'s
Natural Hormone Balance
, and any of Diana Schwarzbein, M.D.'s books. These delve into all sorts of hormone issues, some focusing on reproductive, some on adrenal, others on metabolic. They all affect each other, so they may all prove useful to you.
I hope this helps.

You can also read Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky. Until you have completed NC and read the books recommended by Jodi, I would recommend that she work with her ND. You can learn a lot from her process with the ND as well.
