Some thoughts...
I think there are a lot of health practitioners on the islands...most resorts have spa's.
Hawa'ii has one of the biggest unemployment rates...clientelle issue??
Hawa'ii could use some guidance, as there is high obesity there.
You might look into these claims as I am not 100% sure about them. I have traveled there a few times, and have family in Oahu.
Can you give me any feedback about allergy shots? I just posted on the Forum

Aloha!
I am a very new Bauman student (in my first week!) and have been living on the island of Maui for 7 years. Although I may not have much insight on the job market for nutrition educators in Hawaii, maybe a little background information on the islands would be helpful.
There is a tremendous need for nutrition educators here. A large portion of the Native (and non-native) population suffer with obesity, gout, diabetes and cardiovascular issues that may stem from a switch from a traditional diet rich in starchy vegetables, seaweed and fish to one compromised mostly of processed foods, sugary drinks and cured, salty meats. (think spam and canned sausages!) The issue here is that these people who need the education the most do not have the funds to receive the proper care. But I truly believe there is great opportunity here to do much good here, the need for nutrition educators is great and I see it being a growing field here in years to come.
All of the islands have little micro-commutnites that are very unique and can be distinctly different. Without getting into too much detail, some areas are predominately tourist and others are almost entirely a local population with different values and concerns about the land and health of the islands. I see greater potential for opportunity here in the areas where more local people eat, live and work. I guess it really depends on who you want your clientel to be; there are plenty of high end resorts, all with spas and possible job opportunities, but the people who really need the help here are the locals who may not be able to afford these luxuries.
I hope some of this may help you! I am still in the infant stages of my education, but I do love living in Hawaii and would be happy to answer any other questions specific to the islands! Jodi
