I recently came across the weight watchers website, curious as to how the eating plan works, and it states that the plan is a healthy and holistic diet. Is there any truth in this?

Weight Watchers does have a new program that is not point based and encourages including lots more fruits and vegetables. The emphasis is more on whole foods, but the term holistic may be pushing it a bit as they still encourage the use of Weight Watchers products and low fat and sugar free products.

I've never considered WW to be holistic, but committed individuals can "take what they want and leave the rest behind". WW offers terrific support, something my clients don't get enough of, since I don't run groups (and I'm the only holistic nutrition person within a 100 mile radius). The clients I have who go to WW are using it for support, only, and are Eating for Health otherwise, since they need no further convincing that that's the way to go. It seems to working, so far.

Awesome information ladies, thank you so much! I have a close friend who is starting WW and I am excited about her motivation to lose weight, I hope to encourage her to include more whole foods in the diet as well.
