I have a nephew that is 5 weeks old.  My sister in law could not produce enough milk so he was getting half breast milk and half formula (Earth's Best Organic).  However, he experienced constipation and gas.  As a result, the doctor told them to change the formula to Enfamil and the first ingredient is corn syrup solids and  a ton of unhealthy stuff.  I was shocked at the ingreidents list.  Currently, he is completely on formula.

I just purchased the kit from Radiant Life for my sister to make baby formula from Sally Fallon's recipe.

1. Do we have to add RAW MILK/GOAT MILK or can it be eliminated from the recipe?
2. Is it safe to use RAW MILK or GOAT MILK that is called for in the recipe for a 5 week
old infant?

If so, what brands do you recommend?  For RAW MILK, I know there is Claravele and Organic Pastures.

Any suggestions would be helpful since I would like to make it for him ASAP.

Oh, man how unfortunate that the doctor recommended Enfamil...First I would change Doctors. Then go and get some  Organic Pastures raw milk, they are the cleanest and best form of raw milk commercially available I know (call them to learn more).

The question of pasteurized verses raw seems like a far gone conclusion in my experience and research. We don't need to pasteurize our mothers milk before we feed it to our kids at a young age, do we? The logic behind pasteurization makes sense from a large and dirty industrial production model, yet has not guaranteed the lack of contamination and even the prevention of deaths.

I strongly believe that pasteurized milk (or any heating of raw milk products) is more of a health risk than properly produced/handled and consumed raw milk product. (such as lifelong immune disorders, heart disease, degenerative digestive disorders, allergies...)

If you want to be absolutely confident of the lack of pathogenic potential in raw milk (or other foods) then you would be wise to practice proper fermentation. Raw milk Kefir is likely the most amazing food humans have discovered. If there is any potential for contamination, a proper ferment will ensure the beneficial bacteria have a stronger foot hold and will prevent any pathogenicity.
