I am looking for a primary care doctor in the East Bay (though, I will travel if necessary) who is an MD (takes insurance) and also is knowledgable about holistic practices.

I moved here from Cambridge MA, and went to a small, phenominal clinic there where the physicians, nurses, chiropractor etc. were trained in an MD setting... so they took insurance, but they practiced very holistically (prescribing diet, herbs, etc. for health issues... rather than handing out prescriptions.)

Does anyone have a doctor you really like?
Has anyone ever heard of a clinic like this in the Bay area?
I'm surprised at how difficult it has been to find a competent, and available, doctor here for standard routine care to be paid by an insurance company.

Thanks!

Hi there, you might want to look for a DO instead of an MD.  DO's practice right along with MD's, are covered by insurance, yet typically have a whole body approach.

Hello,
I have used a couple of such doctors myself, but not in the East Bay.  I go to one clinic near Larkspur, and another in Petaluma.  I will email them to you.

Cheers
