With all of the growing concerns about eating contaminated fish, I am wondering if anyone has any good recommendations for pure fish oil capsules?

Thanks

Nordic Naturals and Carlsons are both brands that I trust.  Have spoken with both of these compaies and the have a quality control gauntee to be free of heavy metals or other environmental toxins

I really like the Eskimo-3 brand. It's from Sweden, I think. Has anyone heard anything negative about this brand?

Hi,
A company called Vital Choice has both the salmon (wild, Alaskan) and the oil, with statistics and some interesting studies and recipes. I have used their products. They are online.
Good luck on your fishing expedition,

Marnina,
I recently discovered the best fish oil. Here is the link where you can find more about it and you can order it.

Hope you try it.

Definitely GNLD's Salmon Oil Plus.  It contains all 8 omega-3's and has ZERO tolerance for any impurities.  Plus, they have their own lab that tests every single batch.  I've been taking them for awhile now and love it.  I've noticed a difference in my joints and have less headaches.  Check out the Q & A for this product at: http://www.gnld.com/store/product.aspx?STORE_ID=1&NAV_CATEGORY_ID=3230&CATEGORY_ID=1252&PRODUCT_ID=11640&DISP=1&STR=salmon+oil

I agree with Emily D Nordic Naturals is one of if not the best quality fish oils on the market.  They use only very small fish to minimize mercury levels.  I used to work at Whole Foods in that dept and have talked to reps about how they have quality above and beyond the phamecutical grade requiremets

My Docotor recently told me that it is very important for me to be taking a fish oil supplement, but I have had problems in the past with burping fish all day.  I feel like if I take fish oil supplemts that I may loose all of my clients Smiley  No but really, is there an altenative, or a coated supplement that wont have this effect?

The Eskimo-3 brand that I take is supposed to be "burpless." Smiley I know that I haven't had a burping problem with it, although I have had the burps with other fish oil products. You might want to try a small bottle to see.

I have never had the burps with either nordic naturals or carlson fish oil products...i agree with the others that they are very good reputable companies and care deeply about the quality of their products.

I would also suggest you look at the brand Minami Nutrition. They use a better process than molecular distillation (which is what Nordic, Carlson and Eskimo 3 from Phytopharmica use) called super critical. They also have very specific formulas based on what you are trying to treat. Some with very high EPA and almost no DHA. They do a lot of research and have extremely informative labels...

Sara,

The suggested brands all great.  If you try these products and continue to burp them up then you could try taking digestive enzymes along with the fish oils to help break down the fats.  There is a product by Advanced Naturals called FishMax Ultra.  The fish oil contains lipase to break down the fats and the soft gels are entric-coated so they can pass to the intestines.

Hope this helps also.  Good Luck!
