Hello!
I was hoping that some one had a book they liked about "energy work" in the kitchen. It would be great to find something  that wasn't such a thick read but gave a good idea of the concepts of "hot" and "cold" and other Eastern ideas regarding our food and the way we prepare it.

Maybe try Paul Pitchford's Healing with Whole Foods: Asian Traditions and Modern Nutrition 3rd ed., Part 1 and Part 3.
Part 1 is yin and yang, qi, and HEAT/COLD: The Thermal Nature of Food and People.
Part 3 is about the five elements and their connection to organ systems.

It's a thick book but you can easily sift through it like an encyclopedia.

There's a great cookbook by Kristina Turner, entitled The Self Healing Cookbook. The cookbook includes information about particular ingredients and their energetic qualities, as well as whole recipes for calming, stimulating, energizing, centering, etc.

I recently purchased "Staying Healthy With the Seasons" by Elson Haas.  I haven't been able to read as much as I would like but it talks about seasonal foods within an Eastern medicine context.  The book centers on a more holistic perspective on the seasons by incorporating exercise, mental state and food.
