I am a massage therapist , so i hear about so many people ailments and health concerns.
A 17 yr old client came to me for a massage ; her mother had told me she often goes 3 WEEKS without a bowel movement. This poor girl she has had every doctor test her and prod her and nothing has helped. She says she wakes every morning at 6am and has warm water and lemon and just prays for a movement. She has also tried every over the counter and prescription laxative know to man and they end up just giving her awful cramps .SHe also has pretty bad acne and her mom says she goes in and out of depression. Her mother says this has been going on almost all her life. I fear she is becoming so toxic , she eats 3 meals a day and yet nothing ever comes out:(

What is the first step for someone so incredibly constipated?? I know what i would do for minor constipation, flax, aloe vera , apple cider  vinegar , and lay off heavy meats and cheeses ( and there is more). Colonic Irrigation seems like a start to try to get the colin moist and remove some of that old "crap".. Any other suggestions?

Does any one know of a center or place she could go to be with holistic practitioners who would know how to deal with this? Like cleansing retreats... i went to the We care spa, so maybe something like this ?  thank you Grin

woah, that sounds like some major dysfunction going on. I might recommend getting that checked out by a gastroenterologist there could be a major obstruction or even a bind in the bowls. I've seen some cases where people are just born with malformed bowls and it can cause some major complications.

If this has been ruled out and a fasting retreat is what you are looking for, I'm putting together a fasting retreat in April with ND's, nutritional counselors, holistic chefs and body workers. Let me know if you would like to join our team for this event, and it could be a great time for your clients also.

Health and blessings,
Jay

Thank you for your response, and YES i would love to join your team and do bodywork!!

Her mother said she had seen every doctor and i assume they have seen a gastroenterologist . They said the doctors down played her symptoms and didn't believe it was as bad as it was. I will be emailing with her so i will make sure.

let me know how i cn be a part of your team Grin

Wow, Katja, this is a big toxic dump problem. I agree that ruling out something very serious is important, and if her doctors downplay her problems, this is no time to fool around. She needs a better doctor, gastro or not. An ND, in fact, might be a good idea.

I'm personally emailing you directions I put together from several sources on how to do a vitamin C flush (it's just too big a document to post). I've never needed (or wanted) to do one myself, but I've heard there's no way this won't loosen up the stools and get 'em out. Effective and fast. If this doesn't work for her, that will be a huge indication that she requires expert medical care.

Hi, Jodi

I have a good friend who is having similar problems with constipation - i would really appreciate the vitamin C flush document if you could email it to me off-forum as well!

Thank you!

I sadly have experience with this. Before I figured out I was gluten and lactose intolerant I would go weeks, sometimes close to a month without "going". I didnt realize until a doctor asked me that I didnt go everyday. I would recommend asking her to try removing gluten and dairy from her diet for a while. It sure wouldnt hurt.

For you client who is consitpated, I would start with some basic things to see if that helps. I have heard the Vitamin C flush can work wonders but some simple recommendations can go a long way.  Increasing fluid intake to 96 ounces a day or 8 large glasses of water should help.  Your body is 70% water and most people do not drink enough fluids to promote bowel movements on a regular basis.  Take this from me, I have been dehydrated most of my life because I never have the urge to drink water. I have been sent to the hospital twice from dehydration and was constipated most of my childhood because I never drank anything.  Forcing my self to drink plenty of quality fluids every single day has made a huge improvement in my life.  Also, lemon juice in warm water was a great recommendation from someone else but a glass with 2 tbsp of Physllium Husk Powder when you first wake up has worked better for me. It's fairly cheap to buy Physillium Husk Powder and one serving can dish out as much as 10g of dietary fiber in a single glass! I would have your client on a high fiber/ high water diet and also go through an elimination process to see if they are allergic to any foods or not.  I have alot of food sensitivites as well and as soon as I eliminated certain things from my diet that were bothering me I had more frequent and regular bowel movements and feel 100 times better. So start with that and gauge their progess.  Chances are, if its as bad as it sounds, she may have some kind of Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Chrohn's or Colitis.  In those cases, the stuff I mentioned above will help immensely and most Naturpathic Doctor's would make similar recommendations. Hope that helps.....
