Thanks for sharing. Note that not all of the canned foods from these food labels are in BPA-free cans. For example, from Eden's website they specifically say that their canned tomatoes are not in BPA-free cans and that most of their BPA-free canned foods are beans. For me I cook beans & grains from scratch (i.e. buying bulk, soak for a day or two before boiling) so don't really need them from canns. But one thing that would be really convenient in making braised meat dish or rous is the canned tomatoes or tomato paste. Not sure why they don't use BPA-free cans for tomatoes? Do we need to worry about the high acidity of tomatoes causing some chemical reaction with those can linings?

I found this article about canned tomato:
http://summertomato.com/are-canned-tomatoes-dangerous-the-latest-bpa-scare/

It has some fair recommendation for how and what to avoid BPA pollution of canned tomato.

Irene - Thanks for sharing the link. I think I'm going to look into the tomatoes in glass jars then.

I've also read an article or two about how canned tomatoes are among the worst things you can eat, due to their acidity, and the fact that there is no such thing as BPA-free canned tomatoes.

There are a few alternatives-

-glass jars, with glass lids- if the lids are aluminum, they're most likely lined with BPA plastic
-POMI tomatoes, from Italy, readily available here.  They come in square containers, similar to the ones that soy milk and soup come in.  They aren't organic, but I have this belief that they do fewer horrible things to food in Europe...   Undecided
