Hi there,

I am looking for a reliable book about PMS problems.

Is there anyone who has experience with this problem or just interested in how to get rid off or reduce the pain with an adjusted diet program.

So many books out there and I don't know which one I can actually trust.

Thank you for any help in advance!

I don't know of any books that talk a lot about pms, but i think it depends on the types of symptoms that you get and targeting those particular problems.  my roommates and i all take a B6 supplement the week before that time and it helps tremendously.  according to Michael Murray's Healing Foods book it helps reduce the number of symptoms and in some patients it reduced the amount of pms acne breakouts.  Not only do i take the supplement, but i also try to  up all my b vitamins with foods during that week.  i also get insane cramping and have noticed that eating foods like ginger to help reduce inflammation helps a lot.  Also soothing body oils such as peppermint and lavender sooth my muscles and the aromas help me feel better as well.  dont give in to the cravings for sweets or salts, eat right and keep exercising and you'll soar through the week.  good luck!

Do a search in the forums for PMS, there has been a lot of previous discussion that may be quite helpful.

I second you doing a forum search on the topic. I can also recommend Uzzi Reiss, M.D.'s book, Natural Hormone Balance, as well as the Women to Women website, www.womentowomen.com.

Sugar seems to contribute greatly to menstrual cramp pain, so staying away from it makes good sense. Krill oil has been very helpful for some of my clients in just about completely eliminating their menstrual cramps. It worked the very first month.

I too have been curious to find good literature about pms and such. I was getting terrible cramps for awhile, and having general menstration troubles. I dont know much about dietary support, but 2 things helped me immensly. Accupuncture, and a tincture called chaste tree. It helps regulate hormones. Good luck and be well.

My acupuncturist recommended a Chinese herbal supplement called Xiao Yao Wan (Plum Flower Brand) that you take 3x's/day every day during the week before your period.  It has been a HUGE help for me.
I also find that my mental attitude, exercise and diet makes a really big difference in symptoms.
