• The Gaia Community Scholarship is available to students aspiring to be the change they wish to see in the world, live authentically and make a difference. Gaia awards two $1000 scholarships twice a year.
• The Jewish Vocational Scholarship Committee awards grants to Jewish residents of San Francisco, Marin, or Sonoma County or the Peninsula for vocational training.
• If recently laid-off, on disability, or making a career change, one may be eligible for WIA (Workforce Investment Act) funding. Call Bauman College to find out the number of your local office, or search online through www.servicelocator.org in the Find a One-Stop Career Center box. When you make the connection to the appropriate office, express your interest in WIA funding for a school that is on the California and Colorado ETPL list. (The CO listing is new and may not show up on the web list for a bit. Have your CO WIA counselor call Bauman College to speak to the Registrar and get our approval number.)
  
• Bauman College is approved to train individuals under the Trade Adjustment Act, Worker’s Compensation, and state and private Vocational Rehabilitation in California and Colorado.

• The mission of the California Adolescent Nutrition and Fitness (CANFit) Program is to engage communities and build their capacity to improve the nutritional status and physical fitness of California's low-income, multi-ethnic youth 10-14 years of age. Scholarships are available for African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Latino/Hispanic students expressing financial need to study nutrition, physical education, or culinary arts in the state of California. 510-644-1533
  
• Marin County Residents may be eligible for partial funding through Marin Education Fund. 415-459-4240
• Residents of Napa, Solano, Yolo, Sacramento, San Joaquin, or Contra Costa counties who “possess strength of character and ambition as well as the potential for leadership” may apply for a Frank H. Buck Scholarship.
• Individuals that fall below the Federal Poverty Guidelines may be eligible to participate in the Individual Development Account (IDA) programs, which assists in financial planning with a 2:1 match of an individual’s savings. • Silicon Valley Community Foundation administers a variety of grant programs with the majority of the awards designated for residents of San Mateo County and Santa Clara County. Call or go to the website to see scholarship descriptions. 650-358-9369

• Each year agencies and authors publish guides detailing all sorts of grants and scholarships available to individuals based on a myriad of qualifications. Go to your local library and ask the reference librarian to show you the relevant books. Focus on grants for vocational schools that do not have to be “title 4” for eligibility.
