“Bauman College training provided me with the tools I needed to successfully practice as a Nutrition Consultant. I encourage everyone interested in pursuing a career in nutrition to explore the many benefits they have to offer.

I recently graduated from Bauman College after completing the two-year Nutrition Consultant training program. With the assistance and support I received from my Distance Learning advisors, I was able to complete the program from my home. It provided the flexibility I needed to allow me the same opportunity to study nutrition that I would have had attending a Bauman College campus.

In 1998, I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with a BA in Anthropology. Upon graduation, I gained a lot of experience in women’s health working in a number of women’s healthcare facilities. My jobs included being a program coordinator for a breast and cervical cancer screening program, a medical assistant for a San Francisco OB/GYN; and a volunteer for a licensed midwife and at the Santa Cruz Sutter Maternity and Surgery Center.

I recently opened Active Wellness Nutrition Consulting, a private practice in Santa Cruz. Although my primary focus is women’s health, I am currently seeing clients with a variety of health concerns. Opening a private practice has been a much more enjoyable and smoother process than I ever anticipated. The most rewarding aspect is being able to tell others that I love my work, as well as appreciating the flexibility of being self-employed.

In addition to my private practice, I am currently employed as a staff nutritionist at The Way of Life, a local supplement and herb store. I am a volunteer at The Birth Network of Santa Cruz as well as the Santa Cruz Women’s Health Center. I am also an active member of the National Association of Nutrition Professionals, as well as the local Chamber of Commerce and Leads business group.
